The SWC/Syndicate 2025 Penelope X Double Cask Single Barrel is now available to order for a very limited time (Ends 8/25/25). Below MSRP with generous LNW pricing. Price includes all taxes and fees.
The Syndicate had the amazing opportunity to pick a single barrel of Penelope X today thanks to our friends at Liquor N Wine. Thank you Brad Vest, Linda Martinez, John Mims, and Barrel Boss Jason Drury for taking time and expense to drive down to Bardstown and help with the pick.
We had a sample of each expression from Penelope X. Those being PX Sherry, Oloroso sherry, Cognac, and a Double Cask (cognac/oloroso). After going thru all samples, we quickly eliminated 2 samples. We felt that they lacked the depth and character we were expecting and looking for. We took a quick vote and asked for the remaining samples to be blinded again. Double Cask vs Oloroso Sherry. And the winner (besides all of us) is…………
Double Cask(Oloroso Sherry and Cognac finished). It’s 4 years old, 108 proof. The nose hits crème brûlée, cookie dough, and a unique grape soda note. The body is vanilla custard, dark chocolate and a hint of raisin. The finish is a lingering allspice, tart cherry, and marshmallow.
Sales of this bottle will only be available until August 25 til midnight.
Stickers to non-Syndicate members will require $2 cash fee on pickup. Very limited on extra stickers.
How’d you come up with the sticker? Well we had Penelope picks back to back, or a sequel. And we debated some of our favorite sequel movies at the pick. Eddie Murphy came up several times. Jason started playing around with the sequel theme and found a way to take the scenery of Kentucky (Rolling hills, fences, and barns), combine it with a classic Eddie Murphy style pose from Beverly Hills Cop 2, changed the Detroit Lions on the jacket to Sycamore in honor of SWC, and added a rooster for the pickers as an inside joke. John Mims dubbed it Double Barrel Trouble. And the sticker was fine. Then Jason had a few drinks and thought how awesome it would look if it was a blacklight poster from back in the day against that sleek, beautiful, black Penelope bottle. BOOM.
