This page explains how to delete your Sycamore Whiskey Club app account and what happens to your information when you do. It applies to the Sycamore Whiskey Club mobile app (org.sycamorewhiskeyclub.app).
Deleting your account from inside the app
- Open the Sycamore Whiskey Club app and sign in.
- Go to You → Settings → Delete my account.
- Read what will be deleted, type
DELETEto confirm, and confirm again.
Your account is deleted immediately. It cannot be undone, and an administrator cannot restore it for you.
If you can’t sign in
If you have lost access to your email address, or your account was suspended or never approved, email [email protected] from any address and tell us the email address the account uses. We will confirm you are the account holder and then delete it for you. We aim to do this within 30 days.
What is deleted
Permanently, and immediately:
- Your sign-in. Signing in will no longer bring you back to your account.
- Your email address.
- Your profile: your name, profile photo, home town, and anything you wrote about yourself.
- Your notifications and notification settings.
- The bottles on your shelf.
- Your event RSVPs.
- The record that you accepted the club’s terms.
- Your device notification tokens, so the app stops sending you notifications.
- Your list of blocked members.
- Any feedback you sent the club.
What is kept, without your name on it
Posts, comments, pours, ratings, and photos you added to the shared whiskey library stay in the club app, but they stop being attributed to you. Your name is removed and they appear as “Former member”. Nothing links them back to you or to your email address.
We do this for two reasons. Removing them would leave holes in conversations other members took part in, and it would change the ratings on bottles across the shared library — other members’ records would silently shift.
Any reports you made to our moderators are also kept, as part of the club’s moderation record. Like your other content, they are no longer attributed to you.
If there is something specific you want taken down, ask us before you go, or email [email protected] afterwards. Moderators can remove individual posts, comments and pours at any time, including after an account is deleted.
Backups
The club keeps rotating backup copies of its database so it can recover from a hardware failure or a mistake. A backup taken before you deleted your account holds a copy of your information until that backup ages out of the rotation and is destroyed.
We do not restore deleted accounts from backups, and we do not use a backup to bring back information a member has removed.
Coming back
Your email address is not blocked. You are welcome to apply again with it whenever you like, but you would be joining as a new member — a new application, and an administrator’s approval. Nothing from your previous account returns.
